Emily is a former senior in-house lawyer, having spent more than 15 years working with a broad range of New Zealand and Australian businesses, with a particular focus on employment law and day to day workplace issues. Emily most recently held General Counsel and Head of Legal positions leading legal teams in Sydney.

After beginning her career in New Zealand top tier private practice, Emily relocated to Sydney where she worked as a senior in-house lawyer, expanding her practice to advise on a wide range of day-to-day issues faced by businesses including general commercial matters, corporate governance, and strategic external and corporate affairs.

Having returned to New Zealand, Emily now advises predominantly private sector clients on a range of commercial and employment related matters. She assists with all employment aspects of business sales and transactions, employment related disputes, employment documentation, executive employment arrangements, organisational restructuring, and other strategic change. Emily brings a wide commercial and strategic lens to her advice. With the breadth of her experience spent on the client side, she understands the need for practical advice that suits the needs of the business.

Emily has worked with businesses across a variety of industries, including recruitment and labour hire, IT services, telecommunications, industrial equipment hire, marketing and communications and, most recently, an innovative for-purpose online start-up operating in the Australian disability sector. She takes a flexible, collaborative and solutions-oriented approach, taking into account the unique needs and objectives of each organisation.
