Partner - Property and Real Estate

Patricia leads the Wellington property team. She is a commercial property legal expert with experience in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Patricia advises both private and public sector clients on all aspects of commercial property, including property, development and leasing matters. She also provides advice to clients with national property portfolios and enjoys assisting clients with their strategic planning and vision for such portfolios. Patricia also has extensive experience in the development of precedent documentation for both landlord and tenant clients.

Patricia has worked on an extensive range of commercial transactions including major leasing projects for both public and private sector clients.

She has a wealth of experience advising on the sale and acquisition of major commercial properties. This includes undertaking due diligence investigations for vendors and purchasers, drafting contract terms and conditions, and negotiating complex development agreements and advising overseas companies investing in New Zealand property.

Her expertise extends to negotiating and drafting development agreements and construction documents for principals and tenants for commercial and mixed use buildings and advising on procurement and tender processes, including for tenant fit out, new build and refurbishment.

Some of Patricia’s clients include Z Energy Limited, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), Precinct Properties Limited, Department of Corrections and the New Zealand Treasury.

Z Energy $785m acquisition of Chevron

Part of the team that advised Z Energy on its $785m acquisition of Chevron New Zealand (which owns and operates the Caltex retail fuel brand in New Zealand) – one of New Zealand’s largest corporate acquisitions in recent years.

Residential housing developments in Christchurch

Advised MBIE on a number of housing projects that are a key component of the Christchurch rebuild. Our role included providing strategic advice to ensure that the Crown’s key objectives of pace and the provision of a minimum number of affordable houses were achieved.
