Tanya is an expert in civil and commercial litigation and insurance law.

Tanya commenced practice in 2002, graduating from the University of Auckland in 2001. She spent the earlier part of her career specialising in property law at one of New Zealand’s largest law firms.  Since 2005 Tanya has specialised in litigation and insurance.

Tanya regularly undertakes work for commercial and private clients, along with insurers involving construction disputes (in particular defective building litigation). She has also represented professionals (lawyers, accountants, engineers and architects) in claims for alleged negligence and disciplinary complaints.

Tanya has particular expertise in litigation and resolution of disputes through mediation and negotiation, including claims of significant value and complexity. She regularly appears in defended fixtures in the High Court.

She was recently involved as the senior lead solicitor responsible for resolving three of the largest insurance claims seen in New Zealand, arising out of the Christchurch earthquakes.

Her areas of specialty include contractual disputes, construction and engineering issues, negligence, Fair Trading Act claims and insurance coverage disputes.
