This week we held our final Insurance Round Table events for 2019 in Auckland and Wellington. These sessions focussed on new risks as a result of recent decisions by the New Zealand courts and proposed legislation reform. We particularly focussed on what the Court of Appeal’s approval of “opt out” class actions means for insureds and insurers.
In our November issue of Cover to Cover, we explore these developments in greater detail and the effects on insurers and others in the insurance industry.
We also review the latest case authorities, including several earthquake cases, a decision of the Financial Advisers Disciplinary Committee and a case involving “after the event” insurance policies.
