MinterEllisonRuddWatts has advised AgriZeroNZ on its $117 million capital raise, supporting continued investment in solutions to help New Zealand farmers reduce agricultural emissions while maintaining productivity and profitability.
The raise includes further investment from existing partners and welcomes Farmlands and Alliance Group as new partners. AgriZeroNZ’s existing partners include the New Zealand Government, The a2 Milk Company, ANZ, ANZCO Foods, ASB, BNZ, Fonterra, Rabobank, Ravensdown, Silver Fern Farms and Synlait.
AgriZeroNZ was established in 2023 by the New Zealand Government, agribusinesses and banks. It invests in the development, commercialisation and deployment of solutions to help farmers reduce emissions without compromising profitability and productivity.
MinterEllisonRuddWatts advised AgriZeroNZ on all aspects of the capital raise. Partner Andrew Ryan and Special Counsel Marilyn Mrkusich led the firm’s team advising on the transaction. Andrew said: “AgriZeroNZ is bringing government, agribusinesses and banks together around a challenge that matters enormously to New Zealand. This investment will help turn promising emissions-reduction technologies into practical solutions for farmers, while supporting the long-term competitiveness of our country’s agricultural sector.
“We’re proud to have worked alongside Wayne McNee, Kirsty Bellringer and the wider AgriZeroNZ team on the raise and to support an initiative focused on shaping a productive and sustainable future for New Zealand agriculture.”
The capital raise builds on AgriZeroNZ’s previous investment activity. In 2024, MinterEllisonRuddWatts advised AgriZeroNZ on investment from The a2 Milk Company, ANZ, ASB and BNZ, alongside a restructure from a company to a limited partnership.
The firm’s team advising on the transaction included partners Andrew Ryan and Igor Drinkovic, Special Counsel Marilyn Mrkusich, and Senior Solicitor Stella Gu.
